5 Seasons Brew Pub

5 Seasons is a brewpub in Sandy Springs, Georgia, just north of Atlanta. Recently they opened a new location in Alpharetta in northern Fulton County. A third establishment is set to open in Atlanta in 2008.

It began when Partners Dennis Lange and David Larkworthy met in the early 1990s and realized that they shared passion for good food and good beer. They frequently brewed and cooked for each other, and often wondered why one could not find classy beer in Atlanta - to say nothing of good food pared with good beer. (It was not until the mid 2000s that restrictions on the alcohol content of beer were lifted in Georgia; these laws kept a lot of world-class beers out of the state.)

In 2001 they opened the doors of the 5 Seasons Brewing Company in The Prado, a business and restaurant center in then-unincorporated Sandy Springs. Here they realized their dream of pairing real food with real beer. David applied a "Napa" touch to his culinary creations as head chef. A staff of nearly 60 helped create a dining experience that has made "The 5" a Sandy Springs fixture. Zagat's gives the brewpub two stars for its dining.

In 2006 they teamed up with Crawford Moran, former owner and brewmaster of the now defunct Dogwood Brewing Company to expand their enterprise. On 17 January, 2007, at precisely 5:55 PM, the first keg was tapped at the Alpharetta location during the extremely well-attended grand opening.

Much of the food served at 5 Seasons comes from local organic farmers. They bake their own bread and make all of their own food. All meat is raised organically and free of growth hormones and antibiotics. All the fish is hand-delivered so it reaches the kitchen within hours of the ocean.

5 Seasons offers a variety of beers, and they rotate their selection about once a month. The selections at the Sandy Springs and Alpharetta location differ. The signature beer of the Sandy Springs location is Seven Sisters Münchner, a Vienna style lager that gets its name from the seven Munich breweries where the first Oktoberfest took place in 1571. Other offerings include Lionheart Pale Ale, Spiny Norman IPA, Big Blonde Hefeweizen, Blackbird Porter, Copperhead ESB, ME262 Maibock, Big Hoppy Monster, Munich Helles, Chug Monkey Cream Ale, Velvet Heaven Oatmeal Stout, Phoenix Pils, Glenkevin Wee Heavy Scottish Ale, Kartoon Brune, Sledgehammer, Bighorn Bock, Kounterfeit Kolsch, Wired Straight Stout, and Big O Organic Strong Ale.
