[edit] Brewing Equipment[edit] Extract Brewing EquipmentExtract Brewing of beer requires the least amount of equipment and is the simplest and cheapest way to brew beer.
[edit] Boil PotDepending on the recipe a pot anywhere from 2 gallons to 7 gallons is used to boil the wort. A good choice is a heavy stainless steel pot with a copper insert in the bottom to spread the heat evenly. A good second choice is a heavy aluminum pot. Avoid the thin stainless steel pots as they will scorch the wort as you try and bring it to a boil. [edit] ThermometerA thermometer is needed only if you are steeping grains in your recipe. The temperature range needs to go at least up to 180°F to be useful in brewing. A lab type thermometer is good, does not need calibration and is not expensive. [edit] Heat SourceThis might be your stove top or a propane cooker or a camp fire. You need enough heat to boil the amount of liquid in your recipe for at least 1 hour. [edit] Misc. Equipment
