Brothers of Beer

Brothers of Beer or BOB is a group of friends, originated in Israel, who share their love for beer, music and usually prefer alternative lifestyles. Today, the group has members from all over the globe, for example: Germany, U.S.A., U.K., Norway, Sweden, Portugal, The Netherlands, Canada, Australia and etc.



The brotherhood was officially declared on June the 4th, 2004, though the birth was on May the 9th, 2004 after an initiative of four friends.

Places of Meetings

  • The Temple - A building remnants on a heightened and abandoned hill in Rehovot. It is actually the first "holy" place of BOB.
  • The Dungeon - A night club in old city of Jaffa. Mostly used for BDSM parties during weekdays, BOB gather there on Fridays for drinking, headbanging and meeting with friends.
  • Beerhalla - A small ground on a hilltop in Old Jaffa, where BOB gather for small picnics with meat and beer.
  • Wacken Open Air - BOB members and their friends have a tradition to meet on W:O:A - the biggest metal festival in Europe. Being held in Germany, W:O:A is a very suitable place for big BOB gatherings, for the reason that many BOB members and friends live in Germany.
  • In Taberna - A medieval-styled pub in the city of Holon where BOBs often hang out.
  • Kippurfest - A minifestival held on shores of Kinneret during Yom Kippur and preceding or following days. Kippurfest is a venue which includes many BOBs, except the first one in 2004, when the group of people was around only 20 persons. 2005 Kippurfest included also visitors from Germany, Sweden and Australia.

Birthdays

The first and the second birthdays were celebrated at the "Temple" with barbecues and campfires. The third birthday was celebrated on May the 4th, 2007 at the "In Taberna" Pub in Holon with a traditional Onionball tournament.

Games

Drinking Games are inseparable part of BOB activities, as they go great with beer, having fun and getting drunk. Most common games in BOB are Circle of Death and Onionball (a version of the famous Flunkyball drinking game from Germany).
